The Second Special Air Operations Company of the Minas Gerais Fire Department, located in Varginha, is one of the four Advanced Aerial Life Support (SAAV) units in the State and, next Sunday, April 28, it completes 8 years of implementation in the city.

According to the Fire Department, since the beginning of operations in the South of Minas, 2,700 flight hours have been recorded, with over 1,500 people transported and 2,000 services provided. SAAV is capable of reducing the response time for patient care and transportation to definitive treatment, which can be crucial to saving lives.

The unit is made up of a highly qualified team, with pilots and tactical aero operators, military firefighters, as well as doctors and nurses from SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service), all trained to respond to a variety of emergencies, including traffic accidents, illnesses acute and chronic, and life-threatening conditions.

In Varginha, the SAAV completes 8 years of implementation and has a helicopter that has a complete intensive care unit (ICU). In addition to advanced life support, the SAAV also operates in the logistics of organ harvesting and in specific Fire Department incidents.

In these 08 years, the Company has been able to act in major events, such as the fire at the Janaúba daycare center in 2017, the collapse of the Córrego da Mina do Feijão de Brumadinho dam, in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in 2020. , always saving lives.

Soon, new air bases will be opened in Minas Gerais, one in Juiz de Fora and another in Governador Valadares. Furthermore, the State recently acquired five new aircraft: three single-turbine and two twin-turbine aircraft, which will soon be integrated into operations.
