The body of a pregnant woman was found in a forested area, close to kilometer one of the BR-307, in the interior of Amazonas, on Thursday (25). According to the Civil Police, the victim’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition. It is suspected that she had been there for more than three years and was asphyxiated with a wire.
The victim was identified as Márcia Cesário de Araújo. Her body was abandoned on the Crajari road, which connects the municipality of Benjamin Constant to Atalaia do Norte.
The victim’s body was taken by Benjamin Constant Civil Defense to the city hospital. At the scene, the doctor found that she was at least 23 weeks pregnant, around 4 months of pregnancy.
According to the police, it was not possible to identify whether Márcia Cesário was sexually assaulted, but several condoms were found at the scene of her death.
The PC’s suspicion is that the woman’s killer used a thread to asphyxiate her to death.
No suspects were arrested at the time of writing this article.
The case is being investigated by the Benjamin Constant Civil Police.
