Intense rain

The last 10 days have witnessed a series of generous rainfall across the region. Cities such as Morada Nova, in Ceará, had records of up to 200mm of rain, while Patu, in Rio Grande do Norte, recorded 109mm. Tinguis, in Piauí, Chapadinha, in Maranhão, Belém, in Pará, and Serra do Navio, in Amapá, were also impacted, with significant rainfall accumulations, exceeding 180mm in many cases.

Forecast for the end of April

The end of April is expected to continue this rainy trend. The regions of Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, north of Piauí, coast of Ceará and coast of Rio Grande do Norte are experiencing the most intense rainfall. In Amapá, for example, rainfall is expected to exceed 150mm by the end of the month, highlighting the persistence of these conditions. For other areas, the accumulations must vary between 60 and 80mm, with the possibility of exceeding this value in specific points.

Each year, residents face this familiar weather pattern, reinforcing the ongoing need for preparedness and risk management measures to mitigate the impacts of heavy rainfall in the region.
