BR’s 364 and 317 remain among the worst in the country; highways in Acre are second only to Amazonas

A ranking organized by the Center for Political Leadership (CLP) proves what people from Acre have felt in practice for many years. The federal highways that “cut through” the state are among the worst in the entire country.

The survey was based on the assessment of national highways carried out by the National Transport Confederation (CNT), which evaluated 111,502 kilometers of paved highways, which corresponds to 67,659 kilometers of the federal network (BRs) and 43,843 kilometers of the main state stretches, taking into account the structure of roads and conservation period.

According to the ranking, Acre received just 1.96 out of a maximum score of 5, being, among all Brazilian states, ahead only of Amazonas, with 1.82. The neighboring state has a particularity, as several municipalities only have air or river connections.

The ranking is led by the state of São Paulo with a score of 4.16, followed by Alagoas and the Federal District. In the North Region, the best placed state is Roraima, in 12th position.

The conditions of federal highways in Acre, mainly BR-364, according to the study, bring greater losses to the population than the simple delay and discomfort of a trip, mainly, removing necessary investments for the economic development of Acre due to the logistics difficulties when transporting production, as roads in precarious conditions result in an increase in companies’ logistics costs, due to additional expenses with vehicle maintenance, excessive fuel consumption and travel times.
