Mato Grosso do Sul has 18,351 students from the State Education Network (REE) eligible to receive the financial-educational incentive from the Federal Government’s Pé-de-Meia program, as reported by the State Department of Education (SED).

According to the Ministry of Education, the amount will be aimed at low-income students and can reach up to R$2,000 per year, distributed as follows: R$200 upon registration + 9 installments of R$200.

The superintendent of Sitec (Information and Technology Superintendency), Paulo Cezar Rodrigues dos Santos, informed that The student does not need to make any type of registration or payment to participate in the program. Qualification is carried out directly with the registration information from the public network and Bolsa Família.

“Several high school students have already received the first R$200 from the Nesting Fund program. The money is deposited into an account created automatically by Caixa Econômica Federal”.

In addition to the monthly installments, there will also be bonuses equivalent to at least one third of the total paid to the student, if the young person:

  • does not fail at the end of the academic stage (R$ 1,000 for those who complete high school);
  • take the National High School Exam (Enem) at the end of the 3rd year (R$ 200, in a single installment).

You can participate in the program:

  • low-income students aged 14 to 24; enrolled in regular high school in the public network
  • low-income students aged 19 to 24, enrolled in Youth and Adult Education (EJA)
  • belonging to families registered in the Bolsa Família Program
  • are registered with CadÚnico;

Payment is made in a staggered manner, according to the students’ date of birth:

  • March 26: students born in January and February;
  • March 27: students born in March and April;
  • March 28: students born in May and June;
  • April 1st: students born in July and August;
  • April 2: students born in September and October;
  • April 3: students born in November and December.

Why was the program created?

  • reduce school dropout rates, as low-income students especially are at greater risk of abandoning their studies and entering the job market early, to help their families financially;
  • encourage young people from public schools to take the Enem (in 2023, for example, only 46.7% of public school graduates signed up for the test);
  • reduce inequality in access to university and the formal job market.
