Samara Felippo gives testimony and reveals shocking details about racism against her daughter

Samara Felippo attended the Racial Crimes and Intolerance Police Station, in the center of São Paulo, this Tuesday morning (30). The actress gave a statement about the case of racism against her 14-year-old daughter and revealed that, so far, only one of the families involved in the school has apologized to him.

The episode took place last week, inside Vera Cruz, a high-end school located in the West Zone of the capital of São Paulo. The girl, who is black, had her notebook torn up and erased with racist phrases written by other students, who were punished.

Upon leaving the police station, Samara Felippo told g1 that her daughter wants to stay at the same school and is receiving support from friends. “She’s fine, she wants to stay at school, she’s feeling welcomed, her friends are on her side”, said the celebrity.

According to the actress, only one of the families of the two aggressor girls contacted her: “I had an apology from one side only. They will remove one of the girls, that’s what I’m sure of. I’m not sure if the other one will leave or not, but I believe so.”

“Also because, at the same time that my daughter is being welcomed by these classmates, perhaps these girls will return to school now, given the scale of what happened and under the awareness that the children are already having, they will be harassed”, she added.

Samara Felippo said that the problem is recurring

According to Samara Felippo, the episode does not reflect an isolated situation. This is because her daughter had already suffered racism on other occasions in the school environment. “It’s a repeat offense, it’s recurring. Since last year, an episode in which a porter disappeared and the accused was my daughter. These are all small layers of racism that black children go through every day in a veiled way,” she lamented.

For the actress, recently the prejudice started to become more explicit, but the girl didn’t want to see it and tried to minimize the problem to avoid complications: “And then it materialized, because it really materialized in writing on her face.”

“I’m very scared about the repercussions of all this, and at the same time very happy. Because if there was a black mother going to report this at school, she wouldn’t be making this noise like it’s being done. She would have to fight ten times harder to be heard “, highlighted the celebrity.

Samara Felippo also explained that, out of ten teachers, only one teacher is black. The number of black teenagers in the class is also small: “It’s really a matter of teaching. There are children at school who don’t even know what the punishment is (in case of a racist crime). (…) This can’t happen anymore” .

“The reflection that remains is: what type of quality anti-racist policy needs to be applied? Not only the law that has to be applied, on Afro-Brazilian education, but a teaching staff of black teachers. These things need to be changed. Letter employee , training.
