Professor Sandra Monteiro Lemos takes over as rector of the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (Uergs), according to publication in the Official State Gazette (DOE) this Tuesday (2/4).

Sandra holds the position pro tempore, that is, for 12 months. The then interim rector, Fernando Martins, appointed in 2022, exceeded the twelve-month period established in State Decree 43.240/04.

She is a professor, PhD in Education from Uergs, state coordinator of the Pibid Institutional Coordinators Forum in Rio Grande do Sul (Forpibid-RS), member of the Permanent State Forum to Support Teacher Training (Fepad-RS). She was a consultant at the National Institute of Educational Research Anísio Teixeira – Inep (2012–2014) and a pedagogical consultant at UNESCO (2005–2006), in addition to having experience as a teacher in Higher Education in undergraduate and postgraduate courses (2008-2014 ) and educational planning and evaluation. She worked at the State Department of Education as deputy head of the Undersecretary of Education Development.
