Midfielder Serginho is introduced at Santos and celebrates his return ‘home’

Attacking midfielder Serginho was presented at the Santos, by the idol Lima, in a press conference this Tuesday (30). He will wear the number 37 shirt and returns to the club where he was revealed after 14 years. The player has already been regularized with the CBF BID and can make his debut with the Peixe shirt in Series B of the Brasileirão.

“There is always a special feeling of being able to return to the club that revealed it to me. I arrived as a child, not only professionally, but I learned a lot as a person. Become a human being. I’m very happy to be back, to have passed into the hands of people I still care about to this day. The expectation of being with the group is very high, motivation is high and being part of this reconstruction. I hope I can help the group, Santos and return from where I shouldn’t have left”, he reinforced.

Serginho arrives on loan from Maringá until the end of the year and Alvinegro will have the option to purchase the athlete. He had been a highlight of the Paraná team that was runner-up in the state. At Cachorro since last year, he scored twelve goals in 52 matches for the club and was elected the best midfielder in the Paraná Championship this year. In the state championship, wearing the number 10 shirt, he scored three goals in fifteen matches.

“Inferior team today, but with a lot of projection. A team that competes a lot and if it were in a Series B scenario, Series C would be up there. We say inferior because it’s a new team, it’s starting and it’s going to fight on equal terms. Returning to Santos is like that, I’ve already worn that shirt and I know what it’s like. I was raised with big games, regardless of the base, I managed to debut with the professional and I know how important it is. I just have to say thank you, I’m happy and wearing this mantle is wonderful,” he said after being asked about changing teams in his career.

Sérgio Ricardo dos Santos Júnior, known as Serginho, is from Santos (SP) and is 33 years old. The player was revealed by the Peixe base, alongside Neymar, and even played for the Alvinegro professional in a match in 2010. He had spells at Red Bull Brasil, Oeste, Palmeiras (loan), Kairat (Kazakhstan), Ceará, Matsumoto Yamaga (Japan), Daegu (South Korea – loan), Paysandu, Maringá and Portuguesa.

Serginho joins the season’s signings: goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, defender Gil, full-backs Hayner (loan), Aderlan,
Rodrigo Ferreira and Escobar, midfielders Diego Pituca and João Schmidt, midfielders Cazares, Giuliano and Patrick and strikers Otero, Willian Bigode, Guilherme and Pedrinho (loan).
