Mato Grosso tennis player Livas Damazio, from Cuiabá, became champion of the Copa Cosat 14 anos, in Bragança Paulista (SP), the only tennis tournament on the continent held on grass, last weekend. The athlete also secured a place in the Wimbledon tournament, the oldest tennis competition in the world. He travels to London in July with all expenses paid by the South American Tennis Confederation and the organization of the London Grand Slam.

The athlete who is a scholarship holder in the Olimpus MT student category highlighted the importance of the encouragement he has received from the State Government. “I’m very happy with my result, being able to become champion and secure a place at Wimbledon is much more than I dreamed of. Now it’s time to train hard to perform well there. I am very grateful to the State because it is through Olimpus that I have found support and encouragement to continue competing in these tournaments that will change my life”, he stated, through the consultancy.

“For us it is very important to have a Mato Grosso native representing our state and our country in the most important tennis tournament in the world. This boy has an incredible story and is a great source of pride for us and for his family, his coaches and the entire tennis community in Mato Grosso. Our investments in sport have generated great results”, highlighted Secel secretary, Jefferson Carvalho Neves.
