To use sport, art and leisure as a socio-educational tool, the State Department of Education (Seduc), through the Coordination of Youth and Adult Education (Ceja), and in partnership with the Pará Socio-Educational Assistance Foundation ( Façapa) and the State Department of Sport and Leisure (Seel), launched the “Sport, Art and Socio-educational Leisure” project for socio-educational teenagers. The commitment was signed during the event, this Monday (1). The president of the Support Foundation for the Development of Education in Pará (Fadep), Alexandre Buchacra, was present at the event, representing Seduc.

According to the president of Fadep, the initiative is important to offer a quality service in favor of the society of Pará. “This is an extremely important movement that brings together all members of the Government who can contribute through their specific actions to socio-education. It is an attention focused on young people in vulnerable conditions and who, certainly assisted, will enable their resocialization for the benefit of society in general. It is commendable that, through this board, due to our efforts, we can offer a quality service in favor of the society of Pará”, stated Alexandre Buchacra.

According to the coordinator of Youth and Adult Education (Ceja) at Seduc, Ana Cláudia Neves, the moment marks an important step towards guaranteeing the education of socio-students. “This event allusively marks the intertwining between the institutions that will promote the Sports, Art and Leisure project for our socio-educational students. Today, the state education network, through Seduc and Façapa, has 72 students enrolled, who are citizens, children and adolescents who comply with socio-educational measures. It is a very important concern because some are detained inside the units complying with the measures and stay all day and, there, in addition to schooling, they will now have projects in the areas of sport, art, leisure”, he said.

According to the coordinator, Seduc,Faspa and Seel are working in a task force with well-divided functions to better serve students. “The three State entities created this task force, so that we can, within each competence, develop the project. Seel will provide the sports materials, Seduc will provide the teachers who will teach the classes, develop the project, andFaspa will provide the infrastructure, which are the courts, the pools, the spaces. The families of these students will also be advised to look for Usinas da Paz, so that they can also have their rights to physical activity and sport guaranteed”, explained the Ceja coordinator.

“Every teenager likes sports, art, leisure, games. This project launched today, this cooperation between Seduc, Façapa and Seel, is to present projects focused on sport and leisure in socio-education, or social education. The fact that these boys are in socio-education, in prison, does not mean that they cannot play sports, that they cannot have fun, have leisure. Socio-educational units have to function like schools and in schools we have time to study, in the classroom, we have time for sports and leisure. So that’s all we want, is for socio-education to function as a school, in all areas”, highlighted the 8th Prosecutor of Justice for Children and Youth of Belém, Antônio Lopes Maurício.

According to Andrei Miranda, director of Socio-educational Services at Façapa, the project reinforces the commitment to education and socio-educational policy. “Without a doubt, this is a great moment of advancement that we have had as operators of the socio-educational system in the state of Pará. And it is important to make this cut, in terms of cooperation to strengthen and improve the quality of education offered, offering sport, but also within the pedagogical world, dialoguing with Seduc and will only consequently further strengthen the policy of the socio-educational system. It is the state of Pará that is present to strengthen educational systems. This shows the Foundation’s commitment today to going beyond the walls and increasingly strengthening the guarantee of the right to citizenship of these young people and adolescents who are currently held in our units”, he commented.
