A man identified as Durval Alaman Lima spent two days in prison pretending to be his own cousin, after being caught stealing iron benches from a municipal preschool in Campo Grande (MS), on Sunday night (28). The identity confusion was only clarified this Tuesday (30), when the suspect underwent a custody hearing.

According to the Metropolitan Civil Guard, Durval was going out with four iron benches and a combustion engine from the Michel Scaff Municipal School of Early Childhood Education, in the Nova Lima neighborhood, when he was caught by a team. At the time of arrest, the suspect passed by his own cousin.

To the police, he introduced himself as Jhonatan and confessed to having entered the school through a broken fence. He also said that he would sell the seats and the engine that, in fact, belonged to a service provider who worked at a daycare center in a scrapyard and would use the money to buy drugs.

The entire police procedure was carried out in Jhonatan’s namebut this Tuesday morning, during psychosocial interviews at the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS) it was discovered that he, in fact, was called Durval.

At a hearing, he was released from prison upon payment of bail, in the amount of R$1,400, but the case remains under investigation.
