PCIES starts issuing new National Identity Card (CIN) for all ES

-

The new National Identity Card (CIN) begins to be issued for the entire State of Espírito Santo from this Monday (1st). According to Decree 10,977/2022, citizens have until 2032 to issue the first copy of the document, which will be free for everyone.

Since January this year, the Scientific Police of Espírito Santo (PCIES) began issuing the document, on an experimental basis, with the intention of remedying possible flaws in the integration of the systems. From now on, the state system is integrated with the Federal Revenue Service and the Federal Government’s gov.br platform. To date, around 350 cards have been issued using the new model.

The main novelty of the new model is the unification of the number throughout the country, with the CPF number now being valid. Under the old model, each state adopted its own numbering, which allowed the same citizen to legitimately issue identity cards with different numbers in different states. Based on the new standard, regardless of the state of the federation in which the citizen requests the document, they will have the CPF number as their ID number. This change will reduce the possibility of fraud and inconsistencies in information.

Another important innovation is the availability of the digital version of the document in wallet from gov.br, by printing the physical document. The social name may also be included, upon request by the applicant.

Additionally, other changes will also be implemented. The identity card will now contain an international code that makes it a travel identification document, the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) code and information about diseases may be included in the physical version of the document.

The number of other documents may also be included, such as CTPS, PIS/PASEP and voter ID, but this information will only be available in the digital version of the document.

The validity of the National Identity Card (CIN) is also new and will comply with the following rule:

– zero to 11 years: valid for 5 years;

– from 12 to 59 years old: valid for 10 years;

– from 60 years of age: indefinite validity.

Renewals due to legal requirements will always be free of charge.

How to issue

To start the process, citizens must schedule their appointment at one of the 14 identification points that offer vacancies, through the website agenda.es.gov.br. The other stations in the interior of the State serve on demand or prior appointment, simply for the citizen to seek assistance with the necessary documents.

The addresses can be accessed at the link: https://pci.es.gov.br/cin

The documents required are: birth or marriage certificate, depending on marital status, and proof of residence.

For children up to 5 years old, guardians must take a 3×4 photo, in case it is not possible to take a photo using biometric collection equipment.

Citizens who request exemption from paying the fee must bring a document proving their exemption status. They are: theft/theft of the document with presentation of a police report and proof of income of up to 3 minimum wages.

In the case of elderly people, people with disabilities or special needs (duly certified by a medical report), there is no need to make an appointment in advance. Service is provided directly at the identification point, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Single Collection Document (DUA) for payment of the fee can be issued at the link: https://internet.sefaz.es.gov.br/agenciavirtual/area_publica/e-dua/procurar-taxas.php
