For more than a year fighting to expand courses at public universities in Santa Catarina, the Mais Universidade movement has another important agenda this Thursday (2) in Joinville. Starting at 7pm, a public hearing at the City Council will discuss the consolidation of the UFSC campus in the city and the implementation of the medical course.

The main objective of the movement is to diversify the city and democratize education. “We are talking about the dream of these young people who cannot move to another city and cannot afford private college,” says Larissa Stephanie Pereira, organizer of the movement.
Larissa also comments that the medical course in Joinville brings more health to the city, “which is even suffering a collapse in the area”, she adds.
The next step is to obtain authorization from the Ministry of Education and support from the federal government. Federal deputies Pedro Uczai (PT) and Darci de Matos (PSD), as well as councilors from Joinville, will be present during the public hearing.
