Pará had a prominent position in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, with an athlete from the state on the competition podium.

The delegation from Pará won six medals in the competition that was held in the city of Barueri, in the interior of São Paulo. The tournament was played at the end of April and brought together athletes from various parts of the country.

Among the highlights is athlete Gabriella Nogueira, who took the gold medal in two categories: absolute and women’s medium brown. The athlete faced difficulties and overcame them all in life, as she participates in the social project “Fight to Win”, which makes sport a movement for social inclusion.

The other medalists were Ricardo Gomes Filho, gold in the heavy blue category; Soraya Rodrigues, silver in the purple master category; Gleydson Junior, silver in the men’s blue bantam belt and Gabrielle Santos, bronze in the women’s blue feather category.

The Pará delegation visited the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (SEEL), Cássio Andrade, and presented the results that made Pará’s name stand out in the national competition.

Gabriella highlights Seel’s role in supporting amateur sports athletes. “Anyone who is in the world of sport and wants to make a living from it, knows how difficult it is to have support, especially financially, and having this opportunity that Seel makes available to us is very gratifying, this support makes us athletes continue to believe in our dreams, which is to show our work to the world”, he states.

For the head of SEEL, Cássio Andrade, the athletes show the result of support that involves the state behind these young people.

“These achievements fill us with pride, seeing that our athletes are standing out in national and international competitions, bringing medals, shows that the work is paying off. We at the State Government, through Seel, support sport, because sport is life, it is happiness, and we are happy with these young athletes who represent us”, he concludes.
