A couple was arrested in Chapecó, in the west of the state, during an inspection on a bus traveling between the municipalities of Foz do Iguaçu (PR) and Caxias do Sul (RS). Almost 30 kg of marijuana were found in the passengers’ luggage. The arrest took place on Thursday morning (28).

The inspection, carried out by police officers from the Tactical Ostensivo Rodoviário (TOR) of the Military Highway Police, is part of Operation Protector. The action took place at Km 157.280 of the SC-480 highway, in Chapecó, in the west of the state, at around 7am.
Police were suspicious of the couple’s conduct
When approaching and inspecting the bus, the police officersonfiaram of two passengers. The 24-year-old man and the 22-year-old woman were with their 2-year-old son. When checking their bags, marijuana tablets were found, totaling 27.7 kg of narcotics seized.
The couple was arrested for the crimes of drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking, and taken to the Chapecó Police Station. The Guardianship Council was called to welcome the child who was traveling with his parents.
