MADRID. SPAIN. Rafael Nadalalmost 38 years old, played one of his best games in recent years this Saturday (27) to defeat Alex De Minaur on the way to the third round of Madrid Masters 1000a tournament he has won on five occasions and where he is competing for the last time.
“Well, it was a very beautiful afternoon. Being able to play at home again and at least be competitive, against a high level player. Experiencing what I experienced in terms of the sensations of playing here on this court… it meant a lot to me. That’s what I train for. I received immense support, it is impossible to thank everyone. I’m very happy and I made the most of it”he confessed in statements to SPORT TV after the game.

Nadal doesn’t want to draw conclusions from this game for what’s to come in the rest of the tournament. “We’ll see the day. Enjoy today. Tomorrow I’m free. I’ll try to do as much as I can to return to play on Monday and be as good as possible. I need to trust my body again.”
