Macron arrives at Planalto for the last day of his schedule in Brazil

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, arrives at Palácio do Planalto in the early afternoon of this Thursday (28), where he will be received by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for a bilateral meeting between the two heads of state.

The expectation is that at 1 pm a series of agreements signed by the two presidents will be signed and presented, and then a joint statement will be made to the press. The agenda also includes a lunch and a meeting between the French president and the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.

Lula and Macron participated in several events, since the arrival of the French president in Brazil. Macron arrived on Tuesday (26) and was received by Lula in Belém, Pará.

After a boat trip on Combu Island, the two presidents participated in a ceremony in which chief Raoni Metuktire, leader of the Kayapó people and one of the most internationally recognized indigenous representatives, was decorated with the order of knight of the French Legion of Honor , the main honor granted by France to its citizens and foreigners who stand out on the global stage.

The following day, the two participated in the baptism ceremony and launch of the Toneleiro submarine at the Itaguaí Naval Complex, in Rio de Janeiro. The vessel is the result of a partnership between Brazil and France, within the scope of the Submarine Development Program (ProSub).

Afterwards, Macron went to São Paulo, where he participated in the Brazil-France Economic Forum, organized by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), in the capital of São Paulo. After the event, the French president criticized the attempt at an agreement that has been reached between the Mercosur countries and the European Union.
