The speculation was that the more games saved, the greater the number of towers — and the heavier each file, the higher the blocks would be. Apparently, that’s not exactly how things work.
Well, according to the enthusiastic researchers at “The Cutting Room Floor” community, a wiki “dedicated to unearthing and researching unused and cut content from video games”, The towers on the PS2 home screen are generated based on each game you launch on the device and increase in size depending on the number of times you start it.
However, of course, there is a limit to the number of columns that can be displayed on the screen and there are some specific conditions for them to disappear completely. As you spend less time playing some titles, the blocks representing them will begin to disappear when you reach the limit — until they disappear completely from the PS2 home screen.
So, if you believed that the towers on the PS2 screen were made up of Memory Card files, know that you were wrong this whole time.
PS2 sales number was recently updated
Launched in 2000 and recognized as the best-selling console of all time, the numbers of units sold for the PlayStation 2 were updated at the beginning of April after a long time — leaving it even more isolated in the first position.
