The consumption of podcasts, audio content available on digital platforms, has grown a lot in recent years. According to a recent survey by the Brazilian Association of Podcasters (PodPesquisa Produtor 2020-2021), the estimate is that Brazil has 34.6 million podcast listeners, which represents around 8% of the population.
In the latest consumption report published by Nielsen, podcasting is predicted to be the fastest growing medium in 2024. This is because 21% of a base of 3,000 respondents said they intend to increase consumption of this type of content in the coming months.
With the aim of democratizing access to the strategies and tools used to create this media that is already part of our lives, the team at the production company Pauta Periférica developed training so that anyone can become a podcaster.
The “How to Create Your Podcast” course aims to present the first steps for those who want to enter this area. In addition to covering fundamental planning steps and script production techniques for narrative content, participants will have the opportunity to learn about editing tools and free hosting platforms to get their podcast out into the world.
The meetings will be taught by journalists Gisele Alexandre and Bia Monteiro, and by graphic designer and audio editor, Muller Silva, three peripheral podcasters who are part of the Manda Notícias team, a journalistic podcast created in 2020 to bring quality information to residents of outskirts of São Paulo.

Gisele Alexandre
Journalist specializing in Public Policies and Social Projects. She has been working in peripheral journalism for around 18 years, not only as a reporter, but also as an educommunicator and territorial coordinator. In 2020, she founded Manda Notícias, to combat misinformation and disseminate important information about COVID-19 to the residents of her neighborhood.
Bia Monteiro
Graduated in journalism, she lives in Jardim Dom José, in the Capão Redondo district, and is part of the Manda Notícias team producing content about peripheral culture. In 2022, she joined the podcast group of the Agência Pública de Jornalismo Investigativo, being responsible for researching the agenda of the podcast Pauta Pública, a weekly interview program that helps to understand Brazil.
Muller Silva
Advertiser, designer and gamer. He has worked for over 12 years on communication projects in the third sector. He is currently a resident artist at NuCapão, an articulator at Sarau da Praça and responsible for audiovisual production at Manda Notícias.
