Caucaia records more than 160 thousand visits to health centers in the first three months of the year

Medical, nursing, dental and multidisciplinary care; care for hypertensive, diabetic and pregnant women, measurement of vital signs; testing for covid-19, hepatitis, syphilis and HIV, dressings, in addition to adult and child vaccination and registration and the national SUS card. These are some of the services provided at health centers in Caucaia, which, in the first three months of 2024 alone, registered more than 160 thousand visits. The result represents almost double the number of consultations compared to the first quarter of last year.

“Primary Health Care (PHC) is the first contact that the population has with health systems. Managing the best way to prevent diseases and carry out an efficient diagnosis and welcoming care are always our priorities”, he states Zózimo Medeiros, head of the Municipal Health Department (SMS) of Caucaia.

To access the services, simply look for the unit closest to your home, register and begin the professional service process. In Caucaia, 38 health centers in the municipality are open from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm and eight units provide care from 8am to 8pm.

The Family Health Team (ESF) is part of the Primary Health Care Units/UAPS (health posts); Multidisciplinary Primary Health Care Team (EMAPS), in addition to community health agents.

The Child Growth and Development Centers (NCDIs), created in 2023 in the municipality of Caucaia, also make up the services offered in two health centers in the municipality, offered by the management to children aged 0 to 4 years old, who have developmental delays. children resulting from health conditions such as: Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Extreme Prematurity, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, among others.

Penha Vasconcelos, resident of the Jurema neighborhood, talks about the service provided by the neighborhood unit. “I always go to my routine appointments and I am always very well looked after by everyone at the clinic. The service is always top notch and I leave there amazed”, she celebrates.
