YouTube Premium users will now be able to explore a new feature powered by Artificial Intelligence. In tests since March this year, the Jump ahead will be tested more widely by platform subscribers.
The functionality consists of double-tapping to advance, and a button appears that allows you to skip to the most important part of that content, considered to be what most viewers normally stop to watch. See the screenshot below:
As you can see above, the button appears in a pill format for a few seconds, in the bottom right corner, before disappearing and returning to allowing only 10 seconds to advance – as normally happens with the command.
The application of AI by YouTube is precisely to identify, together with observation data, where the “next best point” is, to allow users to advance to that part.
The feature is only available for the YouTube Android app in the United States, with videos in English. To find out if you are eligible, simply be a Premium subscriber and follow the following path: Settings > Test new experimental features.
