Helldivers 2 it is not available for purchase in over 170 countries and Steam is issuing refunds for the game regardless of how long a person has enjoyed it.
Last Friday, Sony announced that, starting May 30th, the Steam version of Helldivers 2 will require all players to log in with a PSN account.
This change, which was present at the game’s launch but was later removed, caused a large negative reaction. The game received over 100,000 negative Steam reviews from users in less than 48 hours.
Now, due to the fact that PSN is not available in more than 170 countries where Helldivers 2 was already available for purchase on Steam, the game has been removed from them. The list can be seen on SteamDB.
While players from any region can create a PSN account for any other region, the lack of official support for the feature apparently forced its removal by Steam.
At the same time, players are reporting that Steam is issuing refunds regardless of play time. Typically, players have two hours to decide whether or not they want a refund, but Valve has apparently relaxed these rules following the PSN change.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt said he is “talking” with PlayStation about possible solutions.
