There are still places left to participate in the first edition of Mostra Sua UFMG in Montes Claros, which will be held on April 13th, from 9am to 5pm, on the premises of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICA). Registration can be made until April 10th – both by schools that offer secondary education and by students without a school connection – through the event website. Once registration has been completed, the institution or student will receive a confirmation message via email.

During the Exhibition, visitors will be able to interact with teachers and students in lectures and interactive rooms set up at the ICA facilities. The teaching, research and extension structure at UFMG in Montes Claros occupies an area of 238 hectares, with an experimental farm, auditorium, computer laboratories, library, 32 classrooms and more than 90 research laboratories.

The event
Until 2019, Mostra Sua UFMG (formerly Mostra de Profissões) was held in person on the Pampulha campus, in Belo Horizonte. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event did not take place in 2020 and was organized in a digital format in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, a hybrid format was adopted, with in-person events (with an estimated presence of 30 thousand people) preceded by interactions via through the Exhibition website and social networks. These channels showed videos, motion graphics and aerial tours over the campuses and offered information about the opportunities open to UFMG.

In 2024, one of the new features is precisely the event will also be held at the ICA. “The University has been offering undergraduate courses in Montes Claros since 1999. Holding an edition of Mostra Sua UFMG in the North of Minas is a long-standing demand and will contribute to showing the potential of the institution in the region, which currently hosts six undergraduate courses, with the possibility to increase this number from next year”, highlights the dean of Undergraduate Studies, Bruno Teixeira.

The expectation is that the event will bring the Montes Claros campus even closer to schools in the region. “The exhibition inaugurates a cycle in which UFMG increasingly seeks to integrate and establish fruitful relationships with schools, particularly in the North of Minas. Our expectation is that this event will be able to publicize the training possibilities of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the opportunities and the difference of studying at a public, free and quality university”, explains the deputy dean of Undergraduate Studies, Maria Flores. Around three thousand people are expected.

Mostra Sua UFMG is organized by the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (Prograd) and has the support of the other vice-rectors, boards, coordinators and bodies that make up the University’s Central Administration. Collegiate undergraduate courses also participate.

This year, the Mostra Sua UFMG in Belo Horizonte will be held on May 25th. Registration will open on April 5th.

The UFMG campus in Montes Claros has its origins in the former Colégio Agrícola Antônio Versiani Athayde, created on October 11, 1964, by the Ministry of Agriculture. Opened on July 2, 1966, the institution offered secondary professional training for agricultural workers. In 1968, the school was incorporated into UFMG.

Currently, ICA hosts the following undergraduate courses: Administration, Agronomy, Food Engineering, Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Forestry Engineering and Zootechnics. Together, they offer 240 vacancies annually.

The UFMG campus in the North of Minas also offers master’s degrees in Food and Health, Animal Production, Plant Production and Society, Environment and Territory (in partnership with Unimontes).
