Vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) tested positive for Covid-19 this weekend and suspended his schedule of appointments initially for this Monday (1st). According to the press office, he, who is also Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), is doing well and only had mild symptoms.

“He will remain at home, for a prompt recovery, in accordance with medical recommendations,” said the statement, informing that Alckmin will rest at the official residence, at Palácio do Jaburu.

The confirmation of Covid-19 infection occurred days after Alckmin participated in official ceremonies for President Emmanuel Macron, of France, such as a meeting with businesspeople and economists in São Paulo on Wednesday (27) and a lunch with President Luiz Inácio Lula of Silva (PT) on Thursday (28).

Alckmin did not comment on the Covid-19 infection, and his last post on social media was in reference to Easter last Friday (29).

More recently, Minister Fernando Haddad, of Finance, also tested positive for Covid-19 during the first G20 meetings on the economic track, at the end of February. He participated remotely in meetings with representatives of financial entities from the bloc’s member countries.
