AstraZeneca recognizes that Covid-19 vaccine can lead to rare side effects

The pharmaceutical company is being sued in a class action lawsuit because the vaccine allegedly caused the death and serious injuries of several people.

AstraZeneca admitted for the first time in court that the vaccine it developed against Covid could cause a rare side effect, according to the report. The Telegraph. The pharmaceutical company is being sued in a class action lawsuit because the vaccine it developed allegedly caused the death and serious injuries of several people.

The company had already admitted that the vaccine could cause the formation of blood clots and low platelet counts.

The first case was brought forward last year by Jamie Scott, a father of two, who was left with permanent brain damage after developing a blood clot and a bleed in his brain that prevented him from working after having the vaccine in April 2021.

In total, 51 cases were created, with victims and their families asking for compensation of more than 100 million euros.

Victims’ lawyers argue that the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is “defective” and that its effectiveness has been “vastly exaggerated” – claims that AstraZeneca vehemently denies.

Scientists first identified a link between the vaccine and a new disease called vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT) in March 2021, shortly after Covid-19 vaccinations began.

The company points out that information about the vaccine was updated in April 2021, with approval from the UK regulator, to include “the possibility that the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine may, in very rare cases, be a trigger for” TTS (thrombosis syndrome with thrombocytopenia).

Independent studies show that AstraZeneca’s vaccine was incredibly effective in combating the pandemic, saving more than six million lives worldwide in the first year of use.

The World Health Organization said the vaccine was “safe and effective for all individuals aged 18 years and over” and that the adverse effect that prompted the lawsuit was “very rare.”
