BYD’s new affordable electric car proposal, the Yuan Up arrives on the Chinese market with an attractive price for the local consumer, positioning itself between the Dolphin Mini (Seagull) and Dolphin, but with global potential.
In a traditional compact SUV format, the BYD Yuan Up costs between 96,800 and 119,800 yuan (which could well be real here…) or equivalent between R$66,900 and R$82,800.
The BYD Yuan Up is offered in three versions, the first of which has a traditional iron phosphate battery with just 301 km of autonomy, with 95 horsepower and 18.3 kgfm, while the two more expensive versions have a Blade battery.
Unlike the first, which has a range of 401 km, also in the CLTC cycle, with a 177 horsepower engine and 29.5 kgfm, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds with a maximum limited to 160 km/h. The turning diameter is 5.25 m.
In both versions, the rear suspension is by torsion beam, reinforcing the low-cost proposal in relation to the Dolphin Plus, for example. Memories like this, it features NFC, 8-inch HUD, 8.8-inch cluster and 12.8-inch rotating Di-Link multimedia.
There BYD’s warranty is low, between 1 and 2 years for the entire car and 6 years for the battery. Among the items, seats in checkered knit or leather, as well as the option of a panoramic roof with touch screen electric blinds.
It also has the option of ADAS+ with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and lane departure assistant, blind spot assistant, 360-degree monitoring, among others already known from Dolphin Plus.
With apparently good internal space and a luggage compartment that can hold up to 1,320 liters with the rear seat folded down (the size of the standard luggage compartment was not specified), the BYD Yuan Up appears to be a proposal that would be below the Dolphin and above the Dolphin Mini.
Measuring 4,310 m in length, 1,830 m in width, 1,675 m in height and 2,620 m in wheelbase, the BYD Yuan Up would be a declaration of war against traditional compact SUVs between R$110,000 and R$140,000.
