The regional review by Banco do Brasil in April projects that the Alagoas economy will grow by 1.4% and GDP by 0.3%, two very significant drops taking into account the same bank’s projections for 2023 (5.3% and 5 .5%). It is a very similar scenario in Brazil, but heterogeneous because it takes into account the characteristics of each state. In general, however, Banco do Brasil says that “the territorial dynamics of the growth of the Brazilian economy in 2023 should not be repeated in 2024”.

The GDP projection for 2023 is the second highest in the Northeast (second to Maranhão, 6.6%). According to BB, one of the drivers of this growth in the region is the services sector. There is also an additional boost to growth with the progress of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) works. And the Northeast and Southeast have almost two thirds of the projects selected and the municipalities served.

For Alagoas, the Agricultural GDP projection is 16.5%; industry, -1%; GDP Services, 3.2%, totaling 5.5%. For 2024, this expectation plummets: -5.9% in Agricultural GDP; 1% in industry and 2.2% services, totaling 0.3%.
