At Arena Pernambuco, Vila Nova is defeated by Sport and suffers the first setback in Series B

This Friday night (26) was not what Vila Nova expected. Tigrão went to Arena Pernambuco, in Recife, to duel against Sport, in the 2nd round of Series B. In the duel, the home team dominated most of the game and thus managed to win the duel by a score of 2-0 Rafael Thyere and Gustavo Coutinho scored the goals of the game.

With the defeat, Vila Nova remains with 3 points in the Brasileirão Série B and occupies 7th place. Sport took the lead momentarily, now with 6 goals. In the next round, Tigrão will host Operário-PR, on May 4th, at OBA. The Pernambuco team plays on May 3rd, against Coritiba, at Couto Pereira.

The game

Vila Nova went to Arena Pernambuco to duel against Sport and try for their first victory away from home against the red and black. However, the home team started to dominate from the beginning of the match, putting pressure on Tigrão. Tití Ortíz was the first to get scared, but the ball went out. Gustavo Coutinho tried to volley, but Dénis Júnior saved.

Sport followed the pressure, Gustavo Coutinho dribbled Dénis Júnior outside the area, but wasted the chance. But in the 26th minute, the Pernambuco team opened the scoring. During a corner kick, Rafael Thyere got ahead of the defense and deflected it into the back of the net. The red-blacks slowed down, but even so, Vila Nova was unable to pose a threat to the home team’s goal.

In the second stage, Vila Nova returned with several changes and already showed a different posture, but on the counterattack, in a foot-to-foot play, the ball arrived for Gustavo Coutinho to just push into the back of the net. The red-and-black team got scared again with Tití Ortíz, who hit the post with a long-distance shot.

Behind on the scoreboard, Tigrão almost reduced it with Júnior Todinho, who crossed the ball, but Caíque França made a great save. Sport’s archer appeared again in Alesson’s good finish. Igor Henrique also had a great opportunity, but the player shot wide. Vila Nova still tried to put pressure on, but were unable to create good opportunities and ended up with a 2-0 defeat.
