The heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul leave people dead, injured and homeless. In the midst of the climate tragedy, donating supplies together with volunteering has been essential in supporting flood victims in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

As of Wednesday morning (8), 100 deaths had been confirmed by Civil Defense. Additionally, 128 people were missing and 372 injured.
In total, 1.4 million people were affected by the rains. Of this number, 66.7 thousand people are in shelters and 163.7 thousand are homeless in the homes of family or friends. Of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, 417 reported problems related to the storm.

How to sign up to volunteer in RS
Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul
The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul has launched a form for volunteers who wish to work on organizing, selecting and sorting humanitarian aid donations. Interested companies, institutions and groups can register on the official site.
SOS Saúde Rio Grande do Sul
Doctors and health professionals who wish to provide free online care for people affected by the rains can register with SOS Rio Grande do Sul.
Registration does not guarantee that the professional will be called and no employment relationship with the government is created. Professionals who wish to work voluntarily must complete the registration on the SES website.
SUS National Force
National Force of the Unified Health System (SUS) opened registrations for volunteers interested in helping victims of the rains in Rio Grande do Sul. The list of professionals includes social worker, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist, doctor, psychologist, among others.
