Candlelight Concerts

The largest marine aquarium in South America receives the project for the first time Candlelight Concerts, with music performances by the light of a sea of ​​candles. The concert takes place in a space in front of the Grande Oceânico Tank, leaving the audience surrounded by sharks, rays and other varieties of marine animals. There will be two sessions: at 6pm, the Candlelight: Tribute to ABBAwith the Ornamentus String Quartet, and, at 8pm, the Candlelight: Coldplay and Imagine Dragonswhich are already sold out.

The performance, which is part of the Concertos de Eva series, celebrates the harpist’s 45 years of artistic career. The repertoire features compositions such as Brazilian Bachianas no. 5, by Heitor Villa-Lobos; Santa Morenaby Jacob do Bandolim; Folly It is Raining in Roseira, by Tom Jobim; It is Sun with Rainin Cristina Braga and Ricardo Medeiros, among other compositions that marked the history of Brazilian music.

The project takes the Agora Vaz choir to the Federal Justice Cultural Center this Thursday (9). Conducted by Célia Vaz, the group presents Brazilian classics. This Friday (10), at Igreja da Sé, the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club (UMMGC) male choir performs international classics. And this Sunday (12), Mother’s Day, pianist Ana Lúcia Albuquerque is the attraction of the project at the Museu da República, with a repertoire that includes compositions Ernesto Nazareth, Francisco Mignone, Mozart, Schubert, Gottschalk and Chopin.

Rio Villarmônica Orchestra

Part of Orchestras Seriesthe presentation opens the 2024 season of Cecília Meireles Room. Conducted by maestro Tobias Volkmann and with pianist Erika Ribeiro as soloist, Rio Villarmônica performs two works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto in G Major no. 17, K. 453and Symphony In G Minor no. 25, K. 183.

Brazilian Symphony Orchestra

Continuing the cycle of shows Territories Series, OSB presents compositions by Johannes Brahms and Antonín Dvořák. The young Brazilian pianist Estefan Iatcekiw, just 19 years old and one of the greatest talents of his generation, is the soloist of the performances, which are conducted by Claudio Cruz. On Sunday (12), the show will be in the format Concerts for Youthwith the works discussed and at popular prices, costing 10 reais for the whole.

Raul de Barros Symphony and Popular Orchestra (OSPRB)

Under the artistic and musical direction of maestro Mauricio Silva, the orchestra reaches its third concert of the 2024 season with the show OSPRB MPB/Jazz, part of the Mário Tavares Circuit, at Theatro Municipal. The eclectic repertoire includes great names in world music, ranging from American jazzist Benny Goodman to Brazilian maestro Severino Araújo, who made history at the helm of Orquestra Tabajara.
