Candidate for President of the United States Robert F. Kennedy, who is running without a national party, stated that he had a parasite in his brain about ten years ago and that he recovered.

Despite being famous for being from one of the most important political dynasties in the USA, he was also known as an anti-vaccine activist.

The news of the parasite in the brain was initially reported by The New York Times. The candidate’s campaign office later confirmed the story.

Press officer Stefanie Spear stated that “Kennedy traveled extensively to Africa, South America and Asia because of her work as an environmental activist and in one of these places she contracted a parasite.

The problem was resolved more than ten years ago and, today, he has robust physical and mental health, according to the advisory.

Parasite was cited in contentious divorce

The “New York Times” discovered a 2012 deposition from the candidate’s divorce process. He stated that a doctor told him that an abnormality in his brain it was “caused by a worm that got into my brain, ate part of it and then died.”

At the time, he was in litigation with his ex-wife and claimed that he had lost the ability to earn money due to cognitive difficulties.

Kennedy is running as an independent in the US. He has little chance of winning, but according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll from March, he is expected to have around 8% of the vote.
