A sad and unconventional image shocked the morning news this Wednesday, 8th. Globocop, while making rounds in Canoas, one of the cities most affected by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, caught a horse stranded on the roof of a house, in Mathias Velho neighborhood.

According to the GloboNews, authorities are studying how to get the wild animal out of there, but still don’t know how to guarantee its safety. The images were reproduced on the More youprogram Ana Maria Braga. In the attraction, the presenter lamented the animal’s situation.

“How are they going to get him out of there? He’s at the tip of his hooves. Total despair. Horses can swim, but where are they going to swim to? You really have to pray, people, ask God that this doesn’t happen again. And if it does, that do not harm living beings”, he said.

On social media, but mainly on X (formerly Twitter), users of the platform were moved by the situation. “Have mercy God,” one user wrote. “Someone save him, for God’s sake,” added another. “I wish I hadn’t seen this video,” commented a third internet user. “It’s very difficult to see and not be able to do anything for the animals.”

According to the mayor of Canoas, Jair Jorge (PSD), the city has just over 350 thousand inhabitants. Of this number, around 147,000 were affected by floods and heavy rains.

The number of municipalities affected by the floods that hit the Rio Grande do Sulaccording to the balance of Civil defense released at 9am this Wednesday. There are 13 more than in the previous bulletin, on Tuesday, the 7th.

Despite there being more cities affected, the number of missing people fell, from 131 to 128. The number of confirmed deaths remained the same, 95 in more than 40 cities. Cruzeiro do Sul and Gramado were the municipalities with the most deaths due to rain, 8 and 7, respectively.

To date, there are records of 1,450,078 people affected by the disaster, 6,128 more than on Tuesday. Of these, 66,434 are in shelters, 158,992 are homeless, and 372 are injured. Civil Defense is also investigating the cause of four other deaths that may be related to the floods, in the cities of Caxias do Sul, Pinhal Grande, Santa Maria and Três Coroas.
