A woman cut a man’s face with broken glass after he got her age wrong during a get-together at a bar. The case happened in Manchester, England, in September last year, but went viral again this week.
The attacker was identified as 39-year-old Joanne Dodd. The woman was angered to be told by Carl Cooper that she could be 43 years old during a conversation.
According to the Metro newspaper, Joanne waited for the man to come out of the bathroom and hit him twice with a piece of glass bottle. Carl had a 10-centimeter cut on his head and almost injured his eye.
The trial took place last week in the United Kingdom. Joanne’s defense claimed that the woman suffered from “low self-esteem” and was drinking heavily at the time of the attack. The woman was at risk of up to three years in prison.
However, the judge in the case suspended any sentence for the woman after concluding that she is a “working woman”, a “loving mother” and that she does not pose any risk to society.
“I have seen the photo, and the scar is barely noticeable, but for him it will be a constant reminder that night,” judge Elizabeth Nicholls said.
