Elian Matte was dismissed from Record this Tuesday afternoon (23). The reporter had reported the station’s Human Resources director, Márcio Santos, for sexual harassment in the workplace. The professional, who was on the Câmera Record team, was away from the newsroom – working from home after being diagnosed with Burnout syndrome.

Matte states that he was “the victim of an ambush” in an interview with columnist Fábia Oliveira, from Metrópoles. He says he was pressured by an HR employee to sign his termination paperwork. “But I didn’t sign, because I was told that they couldn’t fire me until July, because I’m undergoing health treatment precisely because of Record”, he declares.

To date, Matte still maintains in his Instagram biography that he is part of the Câmera Record team, working alongside Roberto Cabrini. He is currently a writer for the program.

The reporter had formalized a complaint against Márcio Santos in November 2023. In it, he described insistent requests for meetings that “harmed his work and mental health”.

According to the police report obtained by the report, the director started sending text messages with sexual content and monitoring him through the internal camera system.

Santos was fired in April this year and had been away from work since investigations into the harassment complaint began. It was expected that he would maintain his relationship with Record for another year, but the progress of the case with the police made the broadcaster opt for termination.
