Why not dine at the edge of space, 30,500 meters above sea level? Daring amid the possibilities of space tourism, luxury space travel operator SpaceVIP announced that, next year, it will offer the first dining experience on the edge of space.
But, What’s exclusive about the trip is also its face. According to information obtained by Forbes, the experience will last around six hours and cost US$495,000 — around R$2.5 million at current rate — per person.
According to the company, the trip will take place using the Neptune Spacecraft, the first carbon neutral spacecraft in the world. The aircraft is like a ‘space balloon’, which will take passengers to the edge of Earth’s atmosphere.
The expectation is that six travelers will embark on this first opportunity. The food will be prepared by chef Rasmus Munk, who runs the fine-dining restaurant Alchemist, in Copenhagen, Denmark. It will be the first Michelin-starred meal outside the planet.
“This announcement shines a spotlight on space tourism and we are excited about the conversation it starts about the importance of this type of travel,” SpaceVIP founder Roman Chiporukha told Forbes.
The trip, scheduled for 2025, should depart from the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida, United States.
