Have you ever imagined taking online courses directly from Spotify? This idea has just come to fruition in the UK! Starting Monday (25), the streaming platform, known for its vast collection of music and podcasts, is testing the offering of video courses.

Who will be able to take advantage of this new feature?

For now, only British users, whether they are subscribers or users of the free version, have access to the courses. As for the themes, they range from music and entrepreneurship to creativity and health; there’s a little bit of everything thanks to partnerships with BBC Maestro, Thinkific, PLAYvirtuoso and Skillshare.

And the cost?

Prices range from £20 to £80, anywhere from R$125 to R$500. The company has high expectations: “We are exploring a potential opportunity to provide educational creators with a new audience that can access video content, reaching a larger audience of engaged users.”

What is the motivation behind the news?

Babar Zafar, Vice President of Product Development, explains the motivation behind this new feature: “Many of our users engage with podcasts and audiobooks daily for their learning needs, and we believe this highly engaged community will be interested in accessing and purchasing quality content from video course creators.”

This strategy of adding more videos to the platform is not new. Recently, Spotify announced the addition of music videos from some artists, marking an ongoing effort to enrich users’ audiovisual experience.

But how can UK users access these courses?

They will have the chance to try at least two classes of each course for free before deciding to purchase, which can be done on a special web page.

In the application, courses are available in the “Home” and “Browse” sections, allowing users to explore the available content before purchasing in the desktop version. Once purchased, courses are accessible on both mobile and desktop.

Now, the big question is: will this new feature reach places other than the United Kingdom? And how will it be received by the public? We just have to wait and find out.
