The initiative was inspired by the series Sob Pressão, which premiered its fifth season last Tuesday (23) on Rede Globo. Set in an emergency room, the plot portrays the routine of doctors and nurses who face challenges and save lives on a daily basis.
In Maceió, the campaign took place at the Via Expressa units, next to the Hospital Metropolitano de Alagoas (HMA), and Trapiche, next to the State General Hospital (HGE). In Arapiraca, the voluntary action was carried out at the Eldorado unit, close to the Alternative School.
To be a blood donor, you must be in good health, weigh 50 kilos or more and be between 16 and 69 years old. In addition, you must carry an identification document with a photo and be fed, avoiding fatty foods.
Hemoal highlighted that people affected by Chagas disease, AIDS, syphilis and hepatitis after the age of 11 cannot donate blood. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are also prevented from participating in the donation, as are people who have had tattoos, permanent makeup, micropigmentation or piercings in the last 12 months.
The series “Sob Pressão” has been a great success with the audience, with an Emmy nomination in 2018. The plot addresses the mental health of doctors and how patients’ problems affect their personal lives, highlighting the importance of the work of these professionals in the area of health.
