Grain production gains space on farms specialized in livestock, bringing significant gains in terms of productivity, sustainability and profitability. Event in Pontes e Lacerda will show the results in practice For many years we have heard about crop-livestock integration, an intensification technique focused on shared use of land, widely used in Brazil to recover degraded pastures during the conversion process to grain cultivation. In recent years, however, this strategy has been adopted under a new concept: livestock-crop farming, where agriculture is used to improve productivity in areas previously dedicated exclusively to livestock farming. A practical example of this new integration model will be presented on May 10th, during the third stage of the 11th. Nutripura Symposium, which takes place at the São Valentim farm, in Pontes e Lacerda. Operated by Grupo Agrolina, a Nutripura client since 2013, the property has 1,300 hectares available for production. Until three years ago, it had capacity for 2,500 animals reared on pasture. Since then, work has begun focused on intensification through planning and the adoption of innovative technologies. Today, the São Valentim farm operates in the full cycle, working with 4,500 animals on 700 hectares of pasture, most of which are fertilized – the other 600, from more degraded areas, were converted to temporary corn crops with a view to recovering the soil. The numbers above are proof that good planning, combined with the use of technology, can quadruple productivity in the field in a short time. (With Nutripura)
