For the more than special night, João Guilherme Ávila’s “chuchuzinha” wore a dress Tory Burch custom made from grained silk organza, a hand-molded corset, and a multi-layered horsehair mesh skirt.
According to the American brand’s own designer, Bruna Marquezine’s new favorite, the colors of the dress, dyed in tones of ivory, light green and rust, were chosen on purpose so that it looked appropriately vintage and, of course, referred to the dress code of this year: “The Garden of Time“.
“This collaboration with Tory Burch and my stylist Dani Michelle has been so much fun. Their vision is aligned with mine, and together we’ve created something really special and magical. The process has been very collaborative and I’ve been blown away by it all. From the sketches to the various accessories, to seeing this unique look come together and all the creatives behind it, it’s been a surreal experience. The dress is a work of art”, declared Bruna Marquezine to “Harper’s Bazaar”.

For Tory Burch, conceptualizing Bruna Marquezine’s look meant looking to the past for inspiration, but applying a modern touch. The designer’s team presented the actress with more than 20 different versions of the dress before deciding on the version that graced the steps of the Met.
“Bruna and I focused on bringing a sense of modernity to historic techniques,” says Burch, remembering that they started with the corset and hoop skirt, and that the organza served to highlight the intricate construction and detachment of the piece: “We imagined flowers from the past preserved, beautifully aged and not too precious.”
Marquezine’s stylist for the evening, Dani Michelle, also praised the trio’s creative collaboration. “When Bruna and I first connected, I felt incredibly inspired, as it’s so rare to find someone who, stylistically, you align so closely with. We constantly fall in love with the same look, and she brings it to life in remarkable ways . The Met was our greatest chance to dream together and every step of the way was an honor,” he declared.
