The Brazilian Caroline Santos, Juma, won this Thursday (25), the Talinn Open, in Estonia, in the under-67kg category, defeating the Chinese Je Song 2-1 in the final. In 2023, the athlete had already won another tournament in Estonia, in this case the Estonian Open.

Caroline started by beating Meja Lidman, from Sweden, 2-0, with 15-2 in the first round and 15-0 in the second, soon after eliminating Isabelle Faber, from Luxembourg, with 16-4 in the first round and 13-0 in the second. In the semifinals, she defeated China’s Mengyu Zhang, who was the tournament’s number one seed, 16-9 in the first round and 18-16 in the second.

In the final, the fight started better for Song, who saw Carol take a 2-1 lead, but soon after took the lead and fired in the final seconds, taking the first round 13-6. In the second round, the Brazilian took a 6-1 2 against and made it 16 to 12.

The decisive round was worthy of a final, tied at 8-8 with six seconds to go, when a refereeing review gave it 9-6 to Juma. At the front, the Brazilian even increased her score in the last seconds and secured the title with 12 to 9.
