The 25th edition of the Joinville Student Games (Jeville) started this Thursday (25th), at the Ivo Varella Training Center. Approximately 200 students aged 14 to 16 from public and private schools participated in the 3X3 Basketball competition.

In men’s 3X3 Basketball, 29 teams from 38 schools were registered and in women’s basketball there were 14 teams from 18 schools. Jeville is organized by the Sports Department (Sesporte) of Joinville City Hall.

“This year, more than 5 thousand athletes from 45 schools in Joinville participate in around 20 sports, female and male, in the 25th edition of Jeville”, says Sports Secretary, Douglas Steffen.

Student Camila Ribeiro dos Santos, 14 years old, who participates in the competition for the Colégio Santos Anjos team, points out that one of the merits of Jeville is showing young people how beneficial practicing the sport is.

“When I discovered that Jeville existed, I wanted to participate and started playing basketball, which I am passionate about today. And sport is a way for children and teenagers to get out of the house and off their cell phones”, highlights the athlete.

Gustavo Bruch, 15 years old, from Escola Governador Luiz Henrique da Silveira, also praises the competition. “A championship like this, with all the schools in Joinville, encourages the development of the sport. Whoever trains better will stand out”, says the student.

The Jeville competitions are scheduled to take place until November this year. On Thursday (26/4), 3X3 Basketball matches, 11 to 13 years old, male and female, will be held at the Ivo Varella Training Center.

Men’s Futsal, aged 14 to 16, starts on April 29th, at Colégio Bonja. The women’s games, aged 14 to 16, start on May 7th, at EEB Vereador Guilherme Zuege.

The men’s and women’s volleyball games, aged 14 to 16, will take place from May 15th, at Ivo Varella.

The men’s basketball competition, aged 14 to 16, starts on May 27th, at the Ivo Varella Training Center. From July 2nd, it is the turn of the women’s basketball teams, aged 14 to 16, to enter the Ivo Varella courts.

And on May 29th, the men’s handball games, aged 14 to 16, will begin at Ivo Varella. The women’s matches begin on June 6th, at the same location.
