Democrat and Ipatinga take the field this Monday night (1/4), at 8:30 pm, in a decisive game of the Minas Gerais Championship playoff. The match will take place at Mamudão, in Governador Valadares, home of Pantera. See below where to watch the duel and the likely lineups.
With the withdrawal of Patrocinense and the consequent relegation to Module II, Democrat and Ipatinga decide between themselves who will remain in the elite of the Campeonato Mineiro.
Mineiro’s playoff situation
The departure of Patrocinense meant that the Minas Gerais Football Federation (FMF) won 3-0 for Democrat and Ipatinga in all clashes. Therefore, the playoff classification is as follows.
- Ipatinga – 9 points and +7 goal difference (3 games)
- Democrat – 6 points and +5 goal difference (3 games)
- Patrocinense – 0 points and -12 goals difference (4 games, relegated with 3-0 defeats)
Ipatinga’s three points advantage over Democrat is due to the 4-3 victory, on March 12, at Ipatinga, in the opening round of the relegation triangular. In practice, therefore, it is as if Tigre do Vale do Aço had won the first game.
Thus, Ipatinga will play for a draw in Governador Valadares, while the Democrat needs to win by two goals difference. The results of the first phase of the state championship are not considered in the repechage.
