Santos shows interest in Matheus Bidu and Corinthians evaluates deal

O Santos showed interest in having left-back Matheus Bidu, from Corinthians. Initially, Peixe welcomes the defender’s loan until the end of the year.

Timão’s board received the information and is now evaluating the defender’s possible departure, together with the technical committee. After starting the season with little prestige and not even being registered in the Campeonato Paulista, Bidu gained morale with coach António Oliveira. The Portuguese registered the athlete in the Copa do Brasil and gave him minutes in the friendly against Londrinalast Wednesday.

The report from Sports Gazette found that Bidu’s priority is to remain at Corinthians, given this scenario of regaining prestige. However, if Timão agrees to negotiate with Peixe, it would be natural for the player to move to the Baixada team, following in the footsteps of Gil and Giuliano.

The national transfer window is closed, but the CBF allows domestic negotiations to be carried out between April 1st and 19th, taking into account athletes who have competed in any state tournament at the beginning of the year.

The information about Santos’ interest in Bidu was initially released by goal and confirmed by Sports Gazette.

In January, as soon as Augusto Melo took over as president of Timão, some clubs showed interest in Bidu, such as Vitória, Goiás and Juventude. Corinthians, however, did not agree to loan the player without receiving a sum in return, as happened with Roni’s loan to Atlético-GO.

At this moment, Bidu would arrive at Santos to compete for position with Felipe Jonatan, Dodô, Souza and Hayner (improvised). Since being hired by Corinthians, the athlete has played 38 games (29 as a starter), with one goal scored.

The full-back’s contract with Timão is valid until the end of 2025.

And the transfer ban?

At this moment, Santos is unable to register new players. The club was punished by FIFA due to non-payment of debt with Krasnodar, from Russia, in the negotiation involving midfielder Christian Cueva

Therefore, Alvinegro Praiano will not be able to make new signings or register new athletes until the amount is paid. Alvinegro Praiano owes around 4 million dollars (approximately R$ 20 million at current prices) to Krasnodar.

After Santos’ victory over Red Bull Bragantino, in the Paulista semi-final, president Marcelo Teixeira said in a mixed zone that Peixe will pay what it owes to the Russian club.

Bidu’s hiring would be with the Brazilian Series B Championship in mind, scheduled to start on April 20th.
