Two men were shot dead during a confrontation with the Military Police (PM) in Salvador, this Saturday (27). The case took place in the São Cristovão neighborhood and, hours later, a bus was set on fire in the same region. [Leia mais ao final da matéria]

The deaths were recorded during a police operation on Travessa Santo Agostinho. According to the PM, agents were carrying out patrols in the area when they noticed armed men.

Upon approaching, the soldiers were greeted with gunfire and there was a response. According to the PM, the teams pursued the suspects and a new exchange of gunfire began.

Two injured suspects were taken to the Menandro de Farias Hospital, in Lauro de Freitas, in the Metropolitan region of Salvador, and did not resist. With them were found:

  • 9mm caliber submachine gun
  • A 38 caliber revolver
  • 38 and 9mm caliber ammunition
  • marijuana tablet
  • Precision scale

All the seized material was presented at the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP), where the incident was registered.

Hours after the two deaths, a bus was set on fire in Vila Verde, which is also in the São Cristovão neighborhood. Nobody was injured.

The distance between the location of the deaths and the fire is three kilometers, but the police have not yet detailed whether the two cases are related.

According to the Mobility Secretariat (Semob), the bus was on line 1389-01 – Mussurunga / Vila Verde Station x Pirajá Station. As a result of this, the buses had the end of the line changed to Mussurunga Station.

The Bahia Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA) stated that it was looking for two suspects involved in the bus fire and did not provide details about the circumstances of the crime.
