Opening of Mato Grosso School Games and Student Games is marked by animation

The opening of the Mato Grosso School Games and the Mato Grosso Student Team Games on Friday night (26) surprised the public and athletes who will compete until May 1st in volleyball, basketball, handball and futsal, in the female and male categories.

The program features games in five sports venues in the city, including gymnasiums and school courts. In total, the competition includes 1,200 athletes and ten (10) municipalities in the region, including Ipiranga do Norte, Santa Carmem, Sinop, Lucas do Rio Verde, Vera, Cláudia, Tapurah, Sorriso, Nova Mutum and Santa Rita do Trivelato.

The best teams classified during the competition will be guaranteed a place in the state games, which will also be hosted in Lucas do Rio Verde in July.

School Games are aimed at children and teenagers aged 12 to 14. The Student Games are for national team athletes aged between 15 and 17.

“Once again it is a great satisfaction that our municipality will host the Regional Student Games, welcoming athletes from all municipalities here in the region, with all the structure they deserve. Sport transforms people and following this closely is an honor, showing that Lucas Rio Verde is prepared to host games with a large number of athletes. I am grateful for the support of the State Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Leisure, which enhances this size of the event”, reinforced the mayor of Lucas do Rio Verde, Miguel Vaz.

“Being chosen as the municipality in our state of Mato Grosso to host the games shows that we are on the right path due to our efforts and commitment to sport in the city. It is with the team’s dedication that we provide Luverdense citizens with the experience of competitions that bring entertainment to families and athletes the opportunity for growth and development” explained the Secretary of Sport and Leisure of the Municipality, André de Matto.

“We who have been involved in this area of ​​sport and Physical Education for a long time, feel honored to be here in Lucas do Rio Verde, honoring this beautiful party. Going to a game, no matter the sport, always feels like it’s the first time, because of the emotion that the sport brings. And you see on the athletes’ faces the emotion and satisfaction of being here participating in an event like this”, praised the vice-president of the Regional Council of Physical Education of the 17th Region of the State of Mato Grosso, Antonio Duarte de Figueiredo Neto (Toninho ).

For the performance of the National and Lucas do Rio Verde anthems, the ceremony saw the entry of flags by representatives of the Municipal Civil Guard. The National Anthem was played and sung by students from Associação Espaço Esperança.

The entrance of the symbolic fire and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron was one of the most anticipated moments. The torch was carried by Viva Lucas Paralympic athletes.

To close the opening of the Mato Grosso School Games and the Mato Grosso Student Team Games, the event featured the participation of Ginasloucos, who entertained the public with a dunk show – a term used in basketball to identify a shot in which the player jumps, shoots the ball, hanging from top to bottom on the rim of the basket with the throwing hand positioned above him.

About the games

The Mato Grosso School Games and the Mato Grosso Student Team Games involve handball, volleyball, futsal and basketball. The matches by modality were distributed as follows:

• Simultaneously, the matches will start at 8am on Saturday (27th), with handball rounds at the Didé Martins gym. The volleyball games will be in the La Salle College gym. The basketball competitions will take place in the ngelo Nadin State School gymnasium. Futsal will be divided into two locations, at Ginásio Pimpão and Rio Verde.

The event is organized by the State Department of Culture, Sport and Leisure and Lucas do Rio Verde City Hall, through the Department of Sport and Leisure and the Viva Lucas Program.
