The court seized the amount of R$ 1,603,036.62 from the bank account of Peixoto de Azevedo, 692 km from Cuiabá, on Monday (6), after most of the installments that would be transferred to activities in the Emergency Care units of the municipality and União do Norte were delayed.

This action was taken to court after the São Lucas Social Health Institute issued a statement that removed doctors from the units due to delays in paying professionals, which should have been paid by the public authorities.

According to the institute, late payments from February 2024 are R$ 724,824, from March R$ 1,546,036.62, added up to R$ 2,270,860.62.

“Even in the face of countless attempts to reach an agreement, he did not present any concrete proposal to resolve the problem. On the contrary, he states that he does not see any solution to the situation, which involves the right to health and the right to life”, said prosecutor Andreia Monte Alegre Bezerra de Menezes in the Public Civil Action.

The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso requested the sequestering of the amounts, as the municipality partially complied with the decision after paying R$667,824 and requested an extension of the deadline for compliance, arguing that it would pay the debt by May 10th.
