The Southeast Regional Goalball Championship 2 reaches the final round of the qualifying phase, this Thursday (28th) with practically all semi-finalists defined. After the end of the day this Wednesday (27), there was only one place left up for grabs in the men’s suit.
The main highlight for the last round is the confrontation between Instituto Athlon and Santos. Despite being in the classification zone, the team from São José dos Campos faces the leader of the group and, depending on the results of the IFP (Instituto Fortalecendo Pessoa), they could see their “branch” surpass them in the table. The two best teams in each group advance to the semi-finals. Highlight for the women’s tournament, which this Thursday, will have two direct clashes for the leadership of the respective brackets. Sesi faces Insep in group A, while Athlon plays Santos in group B. This way, the result will determine the crosses in the semifinals. The medal matches are scheduled for Saturday (30).

The Goalball Southeast Regional 2 brings together 95 athletes at the Paralympic CT, in São Paulo. It is the first of five regional tournaments scheduled for this season. In addition, it grants the best placed teams, who are not previously classified for one of the two national divisions, a place in the Brazilian Championship Series B 2024. In the men’s group, Sesi, Santos and Athlon are already in Series A. In the women’s group, in addition to the trio , Insep also secured its place in the main national championship.
