Woman arrested on suspicion of beating and breaking her 11-year-old daughter’s arm in Pernambuco | Brazil

A woman was arrested this Friday (26) on suspicion of beating her own 11-year-old daughter in the municipality of Vitória de Santo Antão, 46 ​​km from the capital Recife, in Pernambuco. She was detained while accompanying neighbors who helped the girl and took her to be treated at a hospital in the region. While handcuffing her, a military police officer slapped the child’s mother in the face. The corporation said it will carry out an investigation to evaluate the agent’s conduct.

According to witness reports, the mother had beaten her daughter after being woken up by a fight between the girl and other children. The girl, who was silent, was rescued by neighbors who noticed the attacks and entered the house. In a video circulating on social media, it is possible to see the woman arguing with people who took the child from the house while the child, full of purple spots and bruises on her body, drinks water.

After the confusion, the girl was taken to João Murilo de Oliveira Hospital, which is nearby. When people disembark in the car in front of the health unit, a female police officer approaches the woman and then slaps the suspect in the face.

In another video, it is possible to see the PM saying: “Was it you who did this? It was you who did this to her, wasn’t it? Okay, you don’t like hitting, right? You don’t like hitting? You don’t like it?” . Soon after, another officer handcuffs the woman.

In a statement, the corporation stated that a team was called to investigate a case of aggression between a mother and her 11-year-old daughter. While moving, the agents were informed that neighbors had rescued the child and were taking her to the hospital.

However, when they arrived at the unit, they realized that she was preventing the girl from leaving the vehicle. At that moment, the police arrested the woman, who was taken to the region’s police station.

Regarding the agent’s conduct, the PM reported that “the battalion commander opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the police approach and take the necessary measures.”
