How the shots started. At around 8:10 pm, they claimed to have seen three suspects: two of them armed and the third with a backpack on his back. The PMs took shelter for six minutes. When Santos warned that he was seeing an armed man, the shots started.
Cosmo moved alone to the left. According to an analysis of the camera images carried out by the MP, the PM followed to the left. The soldier allegedly fired the last four shots at Jefferson Junio Ramos Diogo, 34, who was homeless.
“Planted” pistol and pretended surprise, says Prosecutor. Afterwards, Sergeant Trogillo carried out a sweep of the area and ordered Corporal Santos to disarm the victim. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Santos crouched close to the body, planted a pistol and then pretended to be surprised when he identified the weapon.
Supposed clashes. Six days after Cosmo’s murder, in February 2024, Trogillo and Santos participated in two other deaths during Operation Verão, according to the MP. In alleged clashes, they killed, on February 8, Cledson Pereira da Silva and Thiago de Oliveira.
The victim
Homeless person. Jefferson Junio had family members in the interior of São Paulo, but he lived on the streets in the capital of São Paulo.
