Airlines announce extra flights to respond to emergencies in Rio Grande do Sul | Rio Grande do Sul

Latam stated that from Friday (10) it will make 46 extra flights per week between Guarulhos airport and the airports of Caxias do Sul (RS), Florianópolis (SC) and Jaguaruna (SC).

Azul reported that it added 34 extra flights to the South region, with operations until next Tuesday (14). They depart from Viracopos airport, in Campinas (SP), and Curitiba (SC).

Salgado Filho airport, in Porto Alegre, is closed at least until May 30th due to heavy rains recorded since April 29th, which caused flooding in Rio Grande do Sul.

Scheduled to start on Friday (10), Latam’s 46 extra weekly flights will be distributed as follows:

  • Guarulhos-Florianópolis- Guarulhos: from 10 to 14 daily flights
  • Guarulhos-Jaguaruna- Guarulhos: from 2 to 4 daily flights
  • Guarulhos-Caxias do Sul- Guarulhos: from 10 to 14 weekly flights

Latam also stated that it is awaiting the suspension of a precautionary measure by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) that limits flights at Caxias do Sul airport, which will allow it to increase 10 extra weekly flights to the operation.

The flights will be operated with A321 aircraft, with capacity for 216 passengers, and A320, for up to 174 passengers.

Of Azul’s 34 additional flights, 18 will be made between Thursday and Tuesday (14), including round trips from cities in the South. They depart from Campinas to Santo Ângelo (RS) and Santa Maria (RS), and from Curitiba (PR) to Uruguaiana (RS).

The flights will be carried out with ATR aircraft, which have capacity for 70 customers.

The company added another 16 flights to Florianópolis, Navegantes and Jaguaruna, in Santa Catarina. This operation began on Tuesday (7) and will continue until Monday (14), with A320Neo aircraft, with capacity for 174 passengers.
